Ethical Commitment
Yoga Alliance is committed to strengthening and upholding the highest ethical standards in yoga instruction to pursue progress towards a more equitable and harmonious community, where all individuals can find their place in a yoga practice.
The Ethical Commitment establishes shared responsibility, enhancing accountability for credential holders. This means that practitioners and the public can trust that Yoga Alliance members provide quality teaching in inclusive environments. It consists of three parts: a Code of Conduct, a Scope of Practice, and a responsibility to Equity in Yoga.

Code of Conduct
Scope of Practice
This first-ever Scope of Practice clearly defines the role of a yoga teacher, including responsibilities, limitations, and boundaries, such as advising and teaching according to credentials, experience, or abilities.
Members should not present themselves as having expertise in disciplines other than yoga, absent the proper additional credentials, or use Yoga Alliance credentials to imply competency in fields not included in the Scope of Practice.
