My name is Vanessa Larios. I am a professional philosopher (UNAM) and have been a yoga teacher for over 15 years. My passion for this practice led me to combine my studies in philosophy with my yoga practice. Consequently, I decided to dedicate my PhD to the meticulous study of ancient Indian philosophies, in order to understand the origins of yoga and why and how it arrived in the West...what relationship does Patañjali have with the postures we practice in yoga studios? Is Patañjali's philosophy a spirituality that we can apply in our daily lives today? Is ancient yoga the same as modern yoga? Are there more yoga philosophies besides Patañjali's? All these questions and more led me to study the sacred and philosophical texts of India. I was fortunate to receive academic guidance from some of the best Spanish-speaking indologists and spent almost 6 years writing my PhD thesis under their guidance. Over the past 10 years, I have taught nearly 100 courses and trained over 400 yoga practitioners and teachers.
